Owner apologizes for firing all employees just before Christmas

The owners of a sandwich shop on the North Side are apologizing for the way they fired 20 of their employees. The entire staff at Snarf's on Chicago was notified by e-mail over the weekend that the restaurant was closing Monday. In a statement on the company's facebook page, the owner of the Colorado-based chain admits the company acted rashly and insensitively. It'll give the employees one week's severance pay. And when the restaurant reopens as something else next year, those workers may re-apply for their old jobs.
